Purge solonoid... for what... the EVAP system?
If so, no, the EVAP components are not attached to the motor, but rather separate components.

in 96-00, the EVAP solonoid is a seperate unit. I know on Y7's (and y8's), theres a palm sized unit with two vaccum ends (its rectangular) which is one of the purge solonoids. In d16y8 equipped cars, the charcol canister actually has a second solonoid that the ECU (p2p) looks for. Allot of times, people who swap y7 to y8 motors, utilizing the P2P ECU will get a CEL for it not being present (Y7 equipped cars came with only a charcol canister, and one purge solonoid, not 2). The unit itself will not harm the motor if it is not present, but it is required for emmisions during state inspection in most states and has an effect on gas mileage.
