Default fresh paint; on the inside

i figured while im a broke college kid I probably won't be able to afford the b18 I want yet, so id make my car at least look a lil better and whatnot while I save up. Here are some pics of me converting the stock grey 2 tone on my 91 si to straight black. Let me know what you guys think.

heres some before pics

and during the taping up...

i found out quickly that vinyl paint will run and pool anywhere...

the paint wasn't really matching the stock black anyway, so i just resprayed the whole interior...

I still gotta finish up some trim like the latch trim pieces and where the seat belt comes out of the door, but those got to be hand painted because theres some chemical in the spray can that messes with the adhesion of the paint to smooth plastic. will post a couple pics when done.

Looks good. I would have taken the dash out to paint, but it looks like it turned out well anyway. I used some Dupli-color interior paint on my old CRX, good stuff.

^^^ I agree with "NA all the way". But you seem to have done a solid job without removing the dash. Good job.

(I like the two tone interior, but it's not my car. Different is good.)

Interested to hear how long this lasts. I've never had good luck with interior paint, but maybe I was doing it all wrong.

i wanted to take the dash out, but I didn't know how to, or how hard it would be, and I'm going back to school on Wednesday, so it had to be drivable. I was using duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint. It was gloss black, not high gloss, but it was the only other option besides flat black. (it looks so shiny cause the flash on my digicam is outrageously bright)

I just washed it all thoroughly with a cleaner my mother maid out of greased lightning and somethin else. i found out quick you gotta clean vinyl real good if you want anything to stick to it...

DONT PAINT YOUR SEAT BELTS. THE CHEMICALS COULD POSSIBLY WEAKEN THEM!!

if it does, ill make a mold and make some custom fiberglass with fabric inlaid or somethin..

or just paint it again... <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by lsveeee &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">looks nice i took my hole dash out your way looks faster yhen the way i did mine </TD></TR></TABLE>

i doubt it.. it took me 2.5hrs+ to get just the top dash part taped up and get the windshield taped so i wouldn't get any overspray..
