Default Removing lower grill on 99-00 bumper

After searching quite a bit, I couldnt find a definate answer on how this has been done. Looking for some insight into whether you have simply cut the tabs off, sanded & repainted or cut out the entire area that stays unpainted. Pics with your method would be great as well. TIA.

Yep, just cut it out. Cover it with some black painted mesh.

Mine was just cut out and left that way, I like the way it looks.

I also removed the two small side vents with a hot-knife and a dremel.

Why cut it out? I could see trimming for clearance, but I think they look bad with a big gapping hole at the bottom.

The guy I bought my em1 off of did it... Pretty sure he took a dremel to it, the cut is kind of nasty. He filled it with silver mesh, I painted it black. Definitely if you're going to do it paint the mesh black, or leave the hole empty. I stuck my license plate down there to try to hide it.. lol.

if, for example, you cut it. wont the lower part of the bumper droop? or slightly go up without the original part there holding it up/down? let me know cause i want to cut my lower grill too but i dont want it to droop/go up. thanks

i never had any problems with its shape. Only thing was that it was more flemsy, but not by that much.

I'd still trim it if I could (in fact, I'd shop for one that would fit with just minor trimming).

I think they look cheap with the whole thing cut out.

the best way for me so far is a air cutoff wheel then i used a file for a nice square edge and sanded it with a med grit papper (600)ish for a clean fin
