the lack of oil pressure will be the cause of the vtec issue , but yeah did yoiu replace the oil pump and pick up? and did you put the gasket between the pick up and pump, and also the o ring in the oil pump?

Are you sure theres enough oil in there? Check your oil level via your dipstick.

nah i used the oil pump that i had laying around!hah....but theres oil up to par with the line and all gaskets and o rings are there..might be the oil pump though..ima have to pull it off..but is there anything else that might cause low oil pressure?

Low oil pressure light comes on at 5psi, I wouldn't be running that engine until you figure out and fix the issue. Are there not specific vtec oil pumps, what was the pump you had laying around?

When you started the new motor did you put vaseline in the oil pump gear to help it build oil pressure correctly? Also, are you sure you have the correct size bearings and rings?

i'm not sure but isn't there little oil jets in there as well? maybe make sure they're all still there and clear.

yeah i second that you should put vasaline on the oil pump gears so an airpockect does not develop, creating pressure in the oil pump which in turn does not allow oil to pass. but if thats not it i would take off you vtec solinoid and check the screen in there for any blockage. maybe pour in some of that motor flush and run the car see if you had some gunk built up in any passage way in the block or the head. make sure all you rubber o rings are in and not cracked on the the head. or anything that has to do with vtec.

your probably looking at a psi switch or wireing faulty

well the only thing i didnt put together was putting the bearings in and rings..local shop dnr performance put those in and checked all clearances and gaped rings....so im hoping there isnt a problem because of the bearings cuz i know if there to loose u can get low oil pressure

also when i got the head back from the machine shop it was missing a small copper fitting with a allen head that sits on the left side of the head close to the water neck on the block...so i plugged it up with a bolt since i couldnt find that exact fitting..does anyone know what thats for?
