Default Self tuning problem?

I recently took on the task of tuning my own car with the s300 system. For the most part the car runs excellent for the first three gears. When vtec engages in fourth gear it seems as if the vtec stops and will no longer engage untill i shut the car off. I have no idea, but it seems as if the car is in some sort of limp mode. I think this may be due to it running too lean, but the a/f seems pretty close. Another idea I had was the knock sensor. I have yet to disable it.

If anyone has any idea please help me out.

The motor is a GSR STD bore, pro 2 cams, 270 cc.

The a/f ratios are around low 13's to high 12's at wot.

Sounds like a problem with your ecu.
It has nothing to do with your air fuel ratios.

You may want to contact who ever you purchased it from.

Are you positive you bought the ecu from us ?
Has this issue been occurring since you started using the system/ecu ?
We test every unit before selling them, hence my questions.

You need to check the MIL being reported once this occurs.
The issue maybe related to oil pressure aswell....

We will be happy to look at the ecu if you did in fact buy it from us.
Call us at 1-888-236-9831 and we will be happy to inspect the ecu if you feel the issue is related to it.

Reason I didn't think he bought it from us is that it is very rare for the problem to ever be related to our product 99% of the time the problem is the customer's wiring etc.

it doesnt engage until you turn the car off? what does that mean?

you are uploading the calibration right? sounds stupid and the car probably wouldnt even run with it not uploaded but its a possibility i guess, lol.

whats your timing at the vtec crossover? are you running any stellar per gear ignition retard? have you made changes to any of the ignition compensations?

how does your low cam 2d map look at full load? At one time back in the day, i was running way too much fuel on the low end (but the afr still looked good) and at the vtec cross over there was a dip in power. Being that i was over fueling the low cam, that extended to the high cam where there was excess fuel still in the chamber which caused a huge drop in fueling, then an exorbitant amount of fuel needed once it was all burned off. In 4th gear, the whole power band was pretty weak feeling.

Is there any way I can post the map? I have seen it done before on here. The car runs great until I get on it at higher speeds say fourth gear. It seems as if after this I will no longer have vtec untill I shut the car off and restart it (I can hear it). Very odd I think. The low speed fuel I think I have down nearly perfect. The timing is set to stock type r with 16 deg. and nothing on the cam gears.

The most important thing right now is that you log the occurrence of the issue & view the error code provided....

Disable the knock sensor in your paremters & try it again.
Let us know if you get any other error codes.

PS. I sent you a PM. I really don't think your running our ecu.

a knock sensor cel will make the car feel sluggish when that error code occurs. The ecu compensates in this situation by reducing the timing to a certain degree to safeguard against any chance of detonation while it doesnt have the ability to sense it.

disable it and let us know what happens.
