I am slow!
So after 25 years of dreaming I finally ran my first road races this weekend. It was amazing. Even though I was insanely slow I still had a great time. Once I stopped feeling like I was gonna puke (something that I had been feeling for the past 2 weeks in anticipation of this weekend) I really started to enjoy driving the GSR around The Point. Even though I was 5 seconds off the H3 pace I was still happy with the fact that I shaved at least 6 seconds off my lap times over the course of the weekend. I had a goal for myself laptime wise and I surpassed it so I am very happy about my first time out.
Let me also say that most of the ECHC drivers are extremely courteous and friendly even in the heat of battle. Even though I was slower and being lapped by the leaders I never felt pressured by anyone who was overtaking me. Even in the race Jack managed a wave when I moved over to let him by.
My Hyper Highlights:
- Watching the 2 Wendy's employees almost get into a hyper-fight with customers watching
- Shultz finally getting his hyper-game on
- Brinson hyper-HAULING ***
- "Hyper Honda-Challenge"
- David, through no fault of his, getting on EVERYONE's last nerve because he was hyper doing what he was told to hyper do
- Chris "Julia Child" Brinson can not only drive but he has mad cooking skillz as well
- "Schedule subject to change" is the understatement of the new millenium
- Warren "Where The Hell Am I" **** and his JC hyper-adventure
- Shultz with the hyper-box lunch packed by mom
- Lyonel and the hyper-dental floss alignment rack
Congrats to Jack, Adam, Alex and Brinson (Bastard)!

And it was good that I finally got to meet the infamous (Cobra) Drew
As soon as I get this damn software fixed, and clear up the pics, I will email them to you and put the rest on the board.
And as it being your first race, you looked good, [cheesy saying] we learn n' live, and learn to live[/cheesy saying]

LOL. Well, I plan on tracking my damn near stock Ex in December against all kinds of muscle machines. You think YOU were slow out there? Wait till I hit the track!
LOL
I just hope I don't get rear-ended!

Slow was me on the JC on saturday. I was driving well, but there were much faster cars on track with me - at one time i think i had to point buy 4 yellow ITR's at once down the back straight hauling azz and running pretty tight together... it was a swarm
Everytime one of 'em passed, Pat would say "didnt we just point that guy by?!?"
But everyone out there was very courteous and very skilled - i had a great time out there on track with you and cant wait to do it again...

Ryan - who learns rolling aaaaaaaaarrrrs is much more difficult in the intermediate/advanced group than in the n00b group

Yes, I suck for having to leave on Saturday as I've been informed of on multiple occasions by multiple people...

Drew, you were getting faster and faster, and thats all that matters right now.. Was that your first time on R tires on a big track??.. If so, there is a lot to learn about tire pressure and setup, you will drop seconds as you get used to them.. Nice driving, and I love the line out of 10, I know its bumpy, but its FAST!!

Slow was me on the HYPER-JC on HYPER-Sunday, went over there for the first time ever, went out with the HYPER-instructors, got about 4 laps to myslef, the instructors will still getting out of there cars, that last turn before the main strait is wicked, I have to say passing any where with a signal is pretty cool, Pat your car FLIES! of course the porsche and z06 were hauling, Also thanks to hipposleek after I gave him the passing signal on the back strait I followed his line into the last turn and finnally figured out, I still keep blowing turn 1 though! BTW I was the red del sol si # 39.
Also my axxis ultimates start smoking after about 10 laps, came in for few and let them cool then holy crap did the brake, I guess they got hyper-beeded in!

on realizing a dream of yours. That must have been an awesome experience. And even if you were slow (I'm betting that you're overstating this aspect), I'd say that's insignificant compared to the fact that you were RACING!!!!! Congrats!

Congrats on getting there Drew! I can't wait til I finally get on the track let alone race. Be proud of attaining a dream, not many people do that in their lifetimes - the speed will come.
?? Well, who the hell was in that 240SX? British racing green?
Drew I thought you did really well out there! You have great knowledge about how to properly race. You might call this getting your feet wet, nobody goes out and blows doors there first time out! I can't believe that you would even begin to think you were slow.
GREAT JOB!
GREAT JOB!
hrm... wonder how i learned that line
Thanks pat! Had a blast on saturday

During the time trial I was helping out (standing along pit wall looking busy). A few of the guys doing the timing were like, "Watch the guy in the Saturn -- he has a great line coming out of that turn (turn onto the front straight)." You were actually on the same second as the instructor in the supercharged Mustang that ran the time trial during the same session as you!
Even in the race Jack managed a wave when I moved over to let him by.
YouR being aware of the stuff NOT in the windshield is more than half the battle of being a great racer. Awareness of the cars on track shows great skill, no doubt.
Thanks for the wave by
