Default HELP: '88 1.5L civic alternator on a 92 1.5L engine?

hey guys my buddy has a '92 1.5L DX eg that needs a new alternator.
we found a '88 1.5L CX ef alternator for cheap so we're planning to grab that.

any idea if it'll fit?

we're gonna take the old alternator out, but the weather is kind of shitty and we dont have a garage to work under. can anybody gives us a heads up whether or not it'll fit?

thanks in advance guys!
cheers!

im pretty sure that d series starters from obd1 motors are compatable with other obd1. and same with obd0 to obd0. but not sure about obd0 to obd1.

obd1 and obdo share the same round plug only the obd2's are different. the alt should work but some have 3 groove pulleys and some have 4 groove pulleys so you might have to swap pulleys.

yes, 88-91 = 3 rib belt
92-95 = 4 rib belt.

I am running a 88-91 alt with a 88-91 belt on my 92-95 pulley.

you could swap crank pulleys if you wanted, or alt pulleys.

but if you have power steering, you'll need to either swap the alt pulley or just run the 3 rib belt on the 4 rib crank pulley.

i have been really busy with school and work so i haven't had time to swap the alty's yet.

so from my understanding i can swap the alty's, but i'd need to swap pullies as well?
