Default Sooo Was thinking about switching to S2k from an Audi TT

I was never a big audi fan but was driving a 2004 Rustang GT (with full suspension, exhaust, converted it to look like a cobra, looked pretty decent) and getting horrible MPG and wandered into a dealership one day and ended up with a 2002 Audi TT without paying anything to the dealer. I got 81k miles on it now and want to switch to a RWD japanese car and the s2000 basically fits everything I want.

My previous car before the Rustang was an RSX-S so I'm pretty familiar with the engine but was wondering how many miles people are getting out of the s2k before they run into big repair problems. On the Audi TT you basically put in a new timing belt every 70k miles and have to replace turbo every 80-150k or so, then theres lots of little sensors that go bad that you have to replace and things like coilpacks if they break.

I've always liked jap cars the most so will probably be looking to trade in the Audi TT for either an s2000, wrx, or rx8.

i got mine 3 weeks ago, the previous owner told me he only took it in for maintenance and changed the oil once in a while. so... that would be 94k without any major problems?

The only bad thing I can think of is the s2k isn't that great for upgrades. My TT is 180hp stock. With exhaust + revo stage 2 chip you can make like 220whp and 260torque. Stock block is good for 300ish whp, if you just put in new rods you can make like 400-500whp.

lol? 1.8t blocks are solid for atleast 400 without any mods. My friend was at 31psi on stock block for nearly 60,000 miles with 0 issues using blitz icolor for tuning... 31psi is atleast 400 whp, at 23 psi he was at 360whp. Only problem with any 1.8t is the lack of factory lsd and quaife is 900 dollars. ANYWAY this thread isn't about that, so sorry for the rant.

My opinion about switch is, great idea. I loved my friends GTI but with the same money dumped into a s2k you will have alot more fun.

It's a honda. It's basically maintainence free. Do the oil changes. Do the spark plug changes (at 100k), etc. Then it's just general upkeep like brakes and clutch. Drive it. That's all you need to do.

if you get a clean well taken care of s2000 you will not have to worry about anything but oil changes and maintenance

then you can always drop a full race gt30r turbo kit with a thicker headgasket and aem ems and have yourself from 4-500 hp on the stock motor

My S4 will own 90 percent of cars on the road and its bone stock. If you like your audi check out the S4 rwd based awd system 2.7TT is an awesome engine. The only problem with Audi/VW's is the lack of aftermarket support, its there just not too muh of it.

That is doable but it's still russian roulette. It will work for some people, others will end up blowing their engine *eventually*. Highly depends on keeping the tune somewhat conservative and not generating a giant torque spike to break your rods. What turbo is this with? GT2871? I wouldn't even consider one for a stock block, this is what I'd get if I keep the Audi:

Well, out of all the VWs around my area none of them are constantly down due to mechanically failure. I will agree with the fact or it being a luck game with reliability, but im going to peg that specifically to VW. All boosted cars will have their fair share of problems, especially with increased hp numbers. In all honesty, if the dealer i was going to buy the r32 i was going to get didn't sell it 3 days before i went to buy it, I would be driving a VW right now. I love the design of the mark IV vw/Audi, but I love my s2000 and I wouldn't trade it for a R32 at this point.

If you like the TT interior (lots of beautiful details to keep you entertained), you're not going to enjoy the S2000's stark interior. It's a serious driver's car, and doesn't have much eye candy, inside or out.

That may or may not work for you, but if you're coming from two torque cars, you're probably not going to like the S2000. On a Solo course or track, the S2000 will destroy either. If drag strips are your thing, stick with what you have.
