y7 > z6 - parts
So I'm doing my first swap in a few weeks, as soon as a long list of parts gets ordered.
Plan to swap out my y7 for a z6. Car is a 96 del sol, going to turbo once the engine is in and checks out.
Just wondering if anyone has done this particular swap before? We keep running into little things that arn't 100% compatable from the y7 to the z6. Would like to have everything needed ahead of time so I don't have my car in 100 peices waiting for parts to arrive.
So far we've got:
the z6
wireing harness
OBD2A > OBD1 conversion harness
ECU
new OEM clutch / pressure plate / flywheel
z6 throttle cable ( y7 doesn't work with the z6
)
Swap shouldn't be that hard, just trying to avoid the snow ball effect. But **** is bound to happen...
If anyone see's anything I'm missing or knows about something I should look at post it up!
thanks

The swap shouldnt be that hard. The only problem i forsee is when it comes time for an inspection.
When you convert to OBDII to OBDI you can no longer use the scan port under the steering wheel. You can still use the service connector.
The only problem with that is inspection time. i know here in NJ they hook up all OBDII cars the Scan tool.
My opinon putting a OBDI motor in an OBDII car is a PITA
