Looking at a '93 Prelude VTEC, some questions.
Everything in the car seems to be in real good condition, he recently had the timing belt and water pump changed in the last 20k miles. The thing drives great too.
My main concern, it has 211k miles on it. Now I've heard a lot of good things about the VTEC engines, but I'm just wondering, how much life would you say it has in it. The thing starts up perfectly every time, sounds great, no odd shakes or rattles. I'm taking it to my mechanic tomorrow to have it looked over before I decide to buy it.
Oh, and he's asking $3200 for it, but he said he'll work with me on the price, so I could probably get it for $2800-$3000 if everything works out all right.
Thanks!

if te compression is good then you know that the miles havent fried the car. there are other things like cam wear ( or just random problems in the head), transmisson issues, and other things to consider. when i bought mine i didnt check thigns like the exhaust, tires, and brakes and was immediately out almost 1500. if all is well though it will be a very strong reliable motor.
Yeah, the transmission seems to be in really good condition, shifting is a breeze. It doesn't have a funky smell to it either, so the exhaust seems to be real good. The brakes also have a bit of a problem, when you ride the breaks to a stop, they start to get a little spongy, so you have to pump them to get them to work properly. I'm taking it in to my mechanic tomorrow to have him give it a once over and check the compression and everything, one of my mechanic friends said that the brake problem might be a pretty easy and simple fix.

looks good. the last timing belt change would also be something to check out. if it hasnt been done in the past 60k i would make that a priority. but good luck, looks like a solid lude.
