Default in the market for a DC

alright here are the things ive looked at and considered...i was reading up on the RSX's and found out that first there is a 40 hp diff in between the base and type s model also there is 1 more gear in the S versus the base. i ALSO found out that the S does the 0-60 slower than the base?!?!?! 7.8 compared to 7.7.........so right now i dont know what to think. so first i would like to hear your thoughts on this and also try and help me make a decision as to why i should go with the DC5. you know, highlight the pros and cons. im seriously considering this already between that and an EP3 or an EK or DC2

umm, i dont know where you did your search, obviously the type s has 1 more gear, but there's no way its slower, i'm pretty sure i beat the base models from a dead stop all the time

http://www.cars.com has good info but it depends on which year.
i researched the 2006 rsx and rsx type s, and:

rsx 0-60 ~7.8s
rsx type s 0-60 ~ 6.75s

a whole 1 second difference, not .1second

So I saw in your other post that you're an Integra person. Is the Integra is what you only know? You're kidding, right? Because it seems like you don't know about other cars and their general specifications. For example, if I were to ask you how much horsepower and torque does this or that car has.

This is about an RSX too. I'm not trying to bash on you or any of that sort, I'm just simply amazed by how much you know. As this here, is your third thread about the RSX.

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Pat_S &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">The '05-'06 RSX Type-S gets my vote. It's a very smooth driving car, excellent shifting, great stereo, much better ratio (4.7 final drive), and luxurious like the s2000. The only thing that ticks me off about the Type-S is the suspension/handling and size of the car (tall, portly). It's the only complaint I have about the car.

This has been my experience while riding/driving my brother's '05 RSX Type-S. </TD></TR></TABLE>

Anyway, to add to what I had to say... Heated seats, bose stereo, leather racing-like seats, etc. make it a great daily driver.

When comparing the '02-'04 RSX-S to the '05-'06, the newer ones are a bit firmer, quicker, and has a few OEM parts that can be made to resemble a DC5R in terms of performance. For example, Type-R cams, 4.7 final drive, A-Spec suspension (Type-R suspension), and A-Spec wing (Type-R wing). So it basically has the DC5R stiffness built into the car. That's only if you get the A-Spec kit.

Oh, and another complaint that I have about the car is that it didn't come with LSD.

Damn, another Type-R stolen. How did this happen? What kind of security measures did you have?

I hope you get it back in a decent state where it's rebuildable, at least.

Funny thing is, I don't even own an RSX Type-S and was still able to give a piece of information about it. Anyone else want to chime in? Share their opinions or experiences? Anyone? I'm surprised none of the RSX Base and Type-S owners hasn't chimed in by now.

... Or the previous threads you've made.

i say go with the rsx it seems like a better platform than the s2k. i know this kid with one and when i would ask to see if he wanted to run his s2k against me rsx he would laugh in my face pretty much so one day we met up the track and at the end of the day my slowest time was still faster than his fastest time lol his fastest was a 14.6 i think and my slowest was a 14.2 lol but my overall fastest time of that day was a 13.6. let just saw he was pretty pissed and a few weeks later he got rid of it after he bent some valves i think he know drives a STI

13.6 in an RSX Type-S... Impressive... What are your modifications?

For some reason, RSX Type-S's here in California usually run 15.5 and above. Or slower with an I/H/E too. I guess I'm just there at the wrong day and at the wrong time. After that, I'm sure it gave a really bad reputation. But to those who think like that, doesn't know the true potential it has. I know a few Type-S owners in ClubRSX who run 14.1, just with an intake.

I'd say for sure go with the rsx-s, it's just a fun all around car to work on and drive. Sure it's not the best car out there or the nicest anymore, but it's still addicting as hell to drive. Of course this is coming from someone who used to own a 97 integra Ls.....so go with what make sense to you.....

The RSX Type S is definately the way to go...

I have never owned a Type R (DC2R) but if I had to guess I would say going from that to the base RSX (which I have also never owned) would probably be little bit of a dissapointment.

There is a huge aftermarket following on the Type S and although I have found some mods to be pretty expensive they are all rewarding and can net awesome power wihth only a few minor bolt ons and K-Pro...

Hope this helps with your decision and GL!

i have coldair intake, hondata intake manifold gasket, RBC intake manifold, Buddyclub race header, axelback exhaust, K-pro, Buddyclub N+ coilovers, Enjo motor mounts, and i was running on a street tune but was on full slicks but my 60 foots were still 2.0 because i think the slicks were to big so they were gripping to hard. My bro has a dc2 type R and the fastest with bolt on mods i have seen him hit was a 14.1. the best bang for the buck mod was the motor mounts the car felt way better and at the track i was chirping all gears it sounded like the crack of a whip lol if you want i will post up the vids when i get home from work.

If you can post both videos of you and your brother, that would be awesome.

Any in-car footages?

Tell me one thing, why buy a Type-R and not have a garage to park it in?

Edit: Also, what was the badge number?

Yeah man, I was waiting, wondering where you were.

Anyway, those are some very good runs. Maybe we'll see some low 13's?

im definitely hoping for some low 13s my next run at the track but this time im going to run a full 2.5 in exhaust, LSD, and a lighter flywheel and a dyno tune my last tune was a street tune. all my buddys used to have hondas and know they all drive EVO's and STI's and talk all kinds of smack to me but you should have seen the look on theirs faces when my car was running the same times as some of theirs lol
