Default tapping on cold starts!!

i'm new here its my first post, a couple of months ago i bought a 96 civic lx 5spd as a DD to park my cobra. well ever since i got on cold starts i hear a tapping coming from the motor like a stuck lifter or kinda like what forged pistions sound like when is cold. well i just had me emissions tuneup and got a new manifold and cat. and i just did the timing belt two days ago. the car burns no oil no smoke and runs great, gets 30+ mpg. the car is 100% stock alos. You guys have any ideas what it might be? i still new to these cars and dont know much about them so any help would be great thanks
-Tim

check the oil and make sue it's good. the tick goes away as it warms up right? it's most likely because the oil hasn't got to the head yet.

the oil is good just changed about 1000 miles ago. it last about 5 min or so until the engine is completely warmed up. im afraid i gota pull the motor apart if a valve or lifter is bad. the car only has 100,800 miles. after its warm it goes away and it runs great.

hondas tend to be loud when cold, I would not worry about it. You can try a valve adjustment and see if that helps. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1305086

its been doing ever since i got it but only on days when its cold out like under 40 deg. i got the car in sept. and i didnt notice it till it started getting colder out. and i think it got louder after the timingbelt change. i was thinking maybe the new water pump is working better and i also put in a new thermostate. so it seems like it takes longer for the car to warm up now. i'll have to check the valve adjustment some time. but if it was off wouldnt it make the sound all the time? my car only does it when its cold on a cold day the car does not run rough at all

Everyone I know with a single cam says the same thing and they think thier car is out of oil. But it always goes when it warms up, I would say it's pretty normal.

My old d16z6 motor used to do that and it was the fact that everything has to warm up and expand. After it started to warm up the tick went away.

wtf
valve adjustment?
when it warms up it warms into the proper tolerances
when cold they're out of tolerance.
so..adjust the valves and see if that helps.

Im in winnipeg canada with a 93 hatch d15 and if i leave my car unplugged at -20 and below, once it starts on its own or with help it will hear the valves for at least 5 mins. How ever if it is plugged in at those temperatures you might hear the valves with the car plugged in at -30 with a windchill of -42 car in the open.
