Default want to chip my ecu

Need a little help. I have a 92 EG8 D15. Yesterday I dropped an si tranny in it. I was told it will have a little bit of a gear ratio upgrade. but someone told me i need to chip my ecu to actually be able to notice it. can anyone tell me how to do this or what i need to do?

if it's a 5-speed in place of a 5-speed your fine.

The SI tranny is i think the shortest geared D trans, but I could be wrong. Either way you put it, chances are it's a shorter geared tranny then the one you pulled out, so you should notice it right off the bat. You do not need an ECU chip to feel the difference from a change in gear ratio/FD.

last i knew the EX/SI have the same gears. they are shorter than your stock gears so you will get a little bit of acceleration out of it.

EX = .702 5th

Si = .750 5th

Everything else is the same.
