Default Wiring home-made shift light

I have a quick question.

My Civic CX doesn't have a clock in it, but behind the dash trim piece there is a harness clip for the clock. Can I wire up something like a shift light to the 12v power and ground wires on that useless clip? (BTW That trim piece is where I'm gonna put the light.) The shift light needs a switched 12v and ground, then a tach wire to get it to work.

Also, anyone know where to tap into a tach wire to hook up a shift light?

Thanks for all the help.

Yes you can use that power source w/ no problem.. as for the tach signal you can run the wire to the drivers side strut tower wiring harness and tap into the blue wire..

Here is the link to where I got it from.

It was $50.00, so I figured what the hell.

Or the blue/black wire in this picture below the blue wire.

Here is the light mounted. I may move it as it's not in the best spot right now, but still looks good enough.
BTW, I couldn't center the light in the trim plug because of the attachment points on the back.
