Default Knot in sidewall. 35 profile tires suck :P

I bought a wheel package and went with 35 profile tires...in my area roads arent great.

Anyways how soon do I need to replace the tire? I'll be moving to 40 profile from now on.

How long hav eyou guys driving on knotted sidewalls?

If you damaged the sidewall of the tire, you should replace it as soon as possible.

Incidentally, the real cause of the problem isn't the aspect ratio (profile) of the tire. It's the diameter of the wheel. On any car, you're usually choosing the tire size that maintains the same outer diameter. The bigger the diameter of the wheel, the shorter the sidewalls must be. And the short sidewalls make the tires and the wheels susceptible to damage from potholes. That's a major reason why those bling bling big-*** 17" and bigger wheels aren't always such a great idea.

Bottom line, if you're really trying to avoid damage from potholes, you probably ought to get smaller diameter wheels than what you're using. Not just changing tire sizes.

I hear y and I would but I just dropped a chunk of change on a way smaller diameter with some bling on it for my g/f. I changed the reaer from 35 to 225/40/18 and they seem to be doing ok.

Where I live the roads are potholed too and i used 235/40ZR18 Toyo's on my civic h/b and they were fine even driving on the 1/4 mile dirt road driveway i have.
I found it depends what speed you drive and if you can, try and dodge them although traffic makes that kinda hard at times..
