Default Picture & Info Request: ITR rear trunk brace...
A friend of mine has a second owner '00 ITR and it was missing the brace that bolts to the back of the trunk when he bought it. I can't find a pic of it installed on an ITR, and was wondering if anybody has a pic of theirs. Also...what exactly is it intended to do: handling or/and stiffness.

Not exactly, the Benen strong bar ties in to the frame rails on the bottom of the trunk towards the back.

You've probably already guessed it, but it's for stiffening. If you look under a ITR, you'll see that there are two main frame rails that run parallel from front to back. The trunk brace ties the rails together at the rear of the vehicle.

Apart from stiffening things in the rear end....I was told by my Honda dealer (he could or probably is wrong!), that it was for fastening 'baby seats'!?

So is the Benen Strong bar an aftermarket replacement for this? Does anyone have a pic of the Benen bar mounted?

No. But you will have to cut some holes in the plastic lining of your trunk. Not big ones, probably no bigger than 3 inches in diameter.

I'll check on the Benen (I don't know for sure). But two hole in the lining and you're ready to go w/ J's Racing bar.
