There are no specific pros or cons of having either. It all comes down to personal preference. Are you annoyed by road noise? Do you use your top often? Do you like the look of the hardtop or the softtop? Do you have a place to store the hardtop when it's not in use? Do you live/park in a bad area that risks softtop vandalism?

Personally, I'm getting a hardtop because:
1. I love the way it looks
2. My gf hates driving top down
3. I have a garage to store the top when not in use, plus with 2 people, it takes less than 15 minutes to remove.
4. It's quieter, so I can listen to my new stereo system better

Thats a major con of the top. It's expensive. I think if you can find one new it's like 2600+.

Disclaimer: BALLERS ONLY!

haha jk, but yea it was a pretty penny but worth it, i love it cuz i just take it off whenever i want and have the convertable, than just put it back on whenever.

you MIIGHHT be able to find one used for around 2,200 , just depending on your color, silver is most common. My suzuka top, well i've seen maybe 1 used one for sale ever. haha

not it's not, don't look at the inital cost, look at the ownership cost.

most used hood goes for 2200 in good shape, you only spend 400 buck for an awesome piece of metal(or cf for the mugen *****).

if you buy it used, you sell it for the price you pay for. Just look at the used price, they are steady and strong and almost never budge unless you rolled over a cliff

Just keep your eyes open for a used one. I picked up a used Spa Yellow one for my S2k on Craigslist for $900. It had a few scratches on it from being set down paint side down but I am getting it repainted for $300.

I like rolling with the top down. But in nasty weather, that hard top looks way better.

Holy expletive! I would seriously find a new girlfriend if she didn't like riding with the top down. And I've been in this relationship for a long time. Fortunately shes always asking me if I want to go for a drive. Sucks that its winter

In case you couldn't tell, I'm soft-top all the way. Nothing beats top down driving whenever weather permits. I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER put a hardtop on my car.

+1

I've always been an advocate of "Why buy a convertible to put a hardtop on it?". Nothing beats top down in Florida.

You are correct, but there are no others cars similar to the S2000 in terms of price and performance. You ONLY have the choice of a convertible. Many people buy it hating convertibles just to put on a hardtop. I love both, but I'm happy that the hardtop can be taken off quite easily.

theres plenty of things to love and appreciate about the S2000 than its convertibleness.

i certainly didnt buy it because its a convertible. theres plenty of other convertible options, namely miata, if thats all i wanted.

mugen hardtop

if i wanted to be gay and have the wind in my hair and have everyone see how cool i am, i can just take the hard top off. (ive taken it off once since i got it btw)

oh, the only thing bad about ht is the fact that you can't carry a bumper or stalk up tires in the passengers side

I just think the soft top looks tacky. The OEM hard top on the other hand is pure sex.
