Default my POWERSTEERING fluid is overflowing... WHY? please help!

I was putting my struts on and had the car up on jack stands... when i manually turned the wheels (to make room to slide the struts in) I heard thish squishy-squashy sound? at first i thought it was brake fluid but then a while later, there was powersteering fluid on the ground and all over my engine bay. it was being forced out of the resivoir, even with the cap on.

does anyone know if this build up of pressure is normal? i never had powersteering on a car, much less an ef... is there a way to prevent this or do i deal with it? any info will be appreciated, thanks!
