Default HELP! 02 f4i won't start!

so i stored my bike for a few weeks when it actually got a lil cold here in FL. since it was just sitting in the garage, i took the upper fairing and headlight off to do the dual headlight mod. she sat there for about 5-6 weeks without headlight or upper even after i got the headlight wired up. now i have everything put back together but SHE WON'T START. WTF? can anyone help? any ideas? i know the headlights were wired up correctly b/c i tested it and it worked. i just left her disassembled in the garage b/c i was lazy n didn't want to reassemble her while she was just sitting in the garage.

the gauges light up, the needle goes up and down, the crank turns but sounds weak, i smell fuel after a while. the battery isn't the problem b/c it was on a charger. i even tried jumper cables and still no good. i then tried the push start and guess what? NO GOOD.

i'm freaking out. what could it be? she was working fine before storage. mod the headlights. now she doesn't start. can anyone help me out? TIA.

Even if your battery is on a charger, an old battery will eventually fail and die. How old is yours? They only last about 3 years (give or take).

Try a new battery. Failing that, I'd check the regulator/rectifier.

when disassembling the uppers on that bike for the first time a very common and easy to make mistake is putting the bank angle sensor on upside down.
if your battery is suspected to be over ayear old replace it.
to start the f4is have to have a fully charged healthy battery.
you mentioned jump start...im sure you know but its a huge no-no to jump a bike from a car with the cars engine runnin
fireblades.com has service manual free to download or just look to see what the bank angle sensor looks like.
you smelled gas so plan on a new set of spark plugs.
good luck hope i wasnt 2 obnoxious

thanks for the input guys.

Is the fuel pump coming on? If its not and lights on cluster are on and do not die out when hitting start button try the bank angle like said before.

If the clock resets everytime you try to crank it, it's definitely the battery, if not it's something else.

Listen for the fuel pump. If the fuel pump runs, check for spark. Double check that bank angle sensor as well.

+1

if the fuel pump does not prime, i'll bet dollars to donuts that it's the B.A.S.

the lights/clock do NOT die out when i start. the fuel pump is that sound you hear when you engage/disengage the kill switch right? if that's the sound then YES is does prime. how do i check for a spark?
