Default d16z6 turbo

so heres the deal. a friend of mine has a brand new turbonetics turbo kit hes selling to me for $1000 so he can buy a k20. i donno if i want it or not yet but....


wat do i need to do to my engine to prevent it from blowing. its got 110,000 miles. do i need things like head gaskets and fuel controllers?

a list would be really nice.

110k is alot of miles IMO. You should begin by doing a compression and leakdown test on the engine. This will yield a reasonable measure of how "strong" the engine is and whether or not boosting it should even be considered.

that is a great place to start.

then read.
read some more.
understand the "fuel controllers" (that will make or break the engine)

I'd always suggest at least a head gasket and some ARP Headstuds on the single cams...

Checking the health of the motor before turboing is always a good idea too

thanks for all the replies and i will check the condition. but jus by lookin at its record i would guess its good. the guy i bought it from always brought it in for regular maintanence and never missed an oil change plus he didnt beat on the engine. ill still check though.
