Default Shot peening theory

Ok so i know a bunch of people shot peen their LS rods since its a pretty cost effective way to add strength without upgrading to forged units. However my question is why does this work the way it does. does it strengthen the rod in all aspects such as against bending a rod?

Google is your friend, so is Metal Improvement Company. Most here do not get there rods "shot peened" just shot or glas beeded, which helps nothing.

Actually that is cheap, a new LS rod is $100.00 ea. These are cleaned up used rods.

i got 90$ in my ls rods,50$for the rod bolts and 40$ to resize them. i would not pay no more than that to put into stock rods. if you have to buy the rods also another 50-60$ then your looking at around 150$.

stock rods are very reliable but if i was gonna pay that much i would just fork out a little more and go aftermarket.

Those ebay polished rods look somewhat legit. Says best you can do until stepping up to a good H-Beam.

Just curious, did you go to the Metal Improvement site or just count on E-bay as the answer to your engine info.?

i have not made it to the metal improvment site and no i do not rely on ebay for my answers but that link was an example of what i was looking at doing. I was more looking for an answer if shot peening is in fact a way to improve the durability of a rod or not
