Snapped Studs/Bolts
So...
i snapped a stud when taking off the oil pan..its stuck in there..i cant get it out.
when i do get it out how do i sink the new stud in there and make sure its secure?
Same thing on my header...i snapped 2 studs on the header also..
HELP..is there a special tool to sink the studs that i dont know about or something. any help would be great.

yea. Snapped studs/bolts are a pain in the ***. Invest in these and u should be good.

Those helicoils...how do those work....do they slide in? sorry ive never seen that before.
im curious how those work..i got the easy out kit..ive used a traditiional dye and tap set before..but my question is how do i get a stud back in?

the stud will have a section without threads... you can try to take the nut and thread it all the way up, and use it to thread the stud in tight, but that might make it hard to get the nut back off without the stud coming out, unless you use some type of locktitie on the stud and let it set for 24 hrs. a helicoil i think is for when your threaded hole is stripped out too big for tap/die to fix. It is like an insert sleeve that would provide a new threaded hole.
if you have something small enough to clamp onto the non-threaded portion of the stud, and use that to tighten it (like needle nose vice grips), you could also try that. Just be careful not to slip and mess up the threads.

To reinsert the studs,
Place two nuts together on the stud
and tighten them against each other..
You can then tighten the stud into place
using the jammed nut..
