Rusted radiator question?!?
my friend just gave me a new radiator (well newer then mine) and i was going to swap it out with mine old beat up one but i noticed if i looked inside of the radiator cap, theres what appears to be rust on the fins inside. the radiator is in alot better condition then my crx's , and its thicker. i currently have a gsr in my car and wanted that extra cooling but im afraid that bit of rust is going to screw up my motor. another friend of mine said it shouldnt be a problem if i just run the motor for a while and let the hot coolent break everything down then just swap it out with fresh fluid. should i risk it? p.s. i got the radiator for free.

I wouldn't deal with the risk, I doubt you'd have any problem, rust does happen and the block is aluminum, but still, I wouldn't want to have that in there either way.
If there is a ton of crap in the old radiator you could try flushing it out first and see if that helps any; you don't want to clog anything in the cooling system.
Otherwise I'd guess there isn't really much to go wrong.

WISELY put WIZCO...true..it may run for a few days, weeks, months, but then again it could breakdown the day after you decide to keep it and run it...i'd say get a new one and dont worry about it messing your motor up or being rusted...definately...i wouldnt want to drive around wondering when my car might breakdown on me or something...GET A NEW ONE...def.

Thank You...the motor is expensive, so definately getting a new radiator would ease worries off your mind. Just a thought.
