1st b Series swap experience...
I have never done a swap before but would like to learn. Ive read its easy and cheaper than have a shop do it. I know its going to b a pain in tha a*s but what the hell. I have a compressor I know i need a cheery picker what else do i need? How was your first swap experience like guys???
Do some research, I'm quite certain this has been covered. B swap shouldn't be an issue for you. It's plug and play for the most part (depending on your model) and if you do need something, someone makes it. Yes, do it yourself, it's a good learning experience and you're not reinventing the wheel, so if you have questions as you go help will be there.
first of all , u need to get your b series swap complete and ready to be dropped in. second of all. get all the tools you needed and a heavy duty jack and engine hoist. third, i think u need at least help from a friend/family member. 4. a lot of patient and time to spare for your first swap.
i guess, do i over the whole weekend. like sat. take out the old swap and clean the engine bay and stuff. and sunday put the swap in and put everything back together.
u will need to remove both axles, unbolt 3 motor mounts. tranny torque monuts.ac torque mounts and disconnect plugs from driver side firewall and battery . i always removed radiator and ac condensor so they dont get in the way. and pull the engine out slowly. installation is the the reverse of removal.
it is not hard.but time consuming

i did my first swap by myself with no more than a cherry picker and hand tools. i've never used an air compressor on a swap.
just make sure you have the right motor mounts, and the motor has the same corresponding obd series...if it's an obd1 car, it's easiest to swap in an obd1 motor. mostly just to prevent wire splicing and swapping connectors...the last thing you want to do is find yourself in a mess of wiring...especially being your first swap. i'm not saying obd2 motors (or obd0 for that matter) can not be swapped in to an obd1 car, i'm simply saying that it's much easier. you will be able to use your factory engine harness in most cases.

good luck, don't rush anything.

the h-t FAQ is very helpful, but do you have anyone around you that can help? I lucked out a got a job with a tint shop when i was younger that also did motor swaps on the side. After you see about 2 swaps done on a honda, you can do a million of them. I have done 7 or 8 swaps, several clutch installs, and never paid a dime for anyone to work on my car.

swapping a motor is pretty easy as long as you've taken good care of your car.
swapping a motor on a car that has never had its suspension taken apart/bolts unloosened/ etc...thats completely different.
