But for now, I just need to if D16y8 is VTEC?

I need a D16Y8 bc I have a massive hole in my block but do you think I can just toss the old block and get a new block for this engine?

Thanks,

yes, you can toss the block and get a new one. imo you're better off just swapping the whole motor...is the head in good condition?? i think thats the real question. you could go and buy a new block and put it all back together and then find that you have bent valves, or something wrong in the head in general.

what did you do that caused the motor to pop?

These are cheap motors because everyone swaps them out. It would be easier to just put in a whole new motor. Do a search on here and call local junkyards. Keep to a 96-98 bc it is OBD2a and 99-00 is obd2b. I don't no if the sensors or wiring harness is different or not but just to be on the safe side.
