Default Automatic Transmission Flush

Hi All,

I did a search and most thread i found pertain to manual Tranny.

I just purchased a 94 Teg LS auto. Has a 160K on it. It drives well in the higher gears, but kind of "lingers" on the low ones. I'm hoping that changing the tranny fluid will help.

Does anyone have a idea of how to do this? How much fluid is needed? Pics? DIY? Thanks in advance for helping a new guy out.

tilt the car on an angle and drain the tranny

you can't replace the filter on these with ease, so you will have excess trans fluid left in the transfer case

start the car, hold down the brake, and shift thrugh the gears after refilling what you drained

IMO this process should be repeated 3 times over the course of a month....to essentially "purge" out all the old fluid....on the 3rd drain and refill, add some Lucas transmission treatment

this is my helpful post of the day

Thanks a lot.

Another Quick question, My teg did not come with a manual. Where is the tranny fluid dipstick? Is it the one on the firewall of the passenger side near the battery with the yellow handle?

Thanks

I would check the tranny fluid first....if tranny fluid is black...do not flush it out!!!!...you would have to get the trans overhauled...which means time for a rebuild!!!...g/l

The tranny fluid is pink, but very low (i think).

Can someone tell me if i need to start the car, let it run, then shut off and check tranny fluid level, or can this be checked without warming up the car?

Thanks.

Red is what is supposed to look like...............NOT PINK!!!...if its pink that means your leaking coolant inside your transmission or your internal transmission cooler is bad which is located inside of the transmission....if thats the case....a lot of things are going to have to be replaced....
