So im just tryin to find pics and info on doin this. I wanna run a real simple exhaust setup thats gonna be V-Band'd. But i wanna run it under the rear suspension. I know its gonna decrease ground clearance but is it really that bad? Anyonewith pics or info on this, please post up.

how would it be bad? as in scraping? is your car gonna be street driven?

 

yes its bad if it scrapes and gets dented up
yes its good because there are less bends and it will make more power

my evo as like all evos have the exhaust routed under the suspension. there are almost no bends and there is a ton of clearance

but will all the hondas i see this done i think it hangs way to low for a street driver lower honda

You didn't really say what this car was used for. For a DD it's not a good idea IMO.

 

Mine goes under the gas tank. For a race car it's fine, but i wouldn't do it on a street car. I have about 3-4" of ground clearance with 4" exhaust going under the tank, but i dented the tank up a little too.

As long as the cross sectional area doesnt change or change significantly in a short distance there will be *negligible* affects on velocity.

youd want the whole length of tubing to be oval though, otherwise youd have a slight bottleneck when making the transition from round to oval.

 

what would you do then as far as the flange from the circular downpipe to the oval tubing?

Burnsstainless makes transitions. I'm using two on my setup.

 

This is my hatch with an older 4" SS exhaust setup. Clearance was not bad, but It was only lowered about 1.25" .

it helps alot if you have 19kg/mm and 17kg/mm. doesn't squat for a damn.

 

If you get were the lowest point is where the rear subframe is at then it is not such a big deal. Because, if you hit the bump straight, then both wheels will go over it and it should clear. Dips on the other hand, are a whole different story

exactly. it hangs a little bit lower than the subframe which is more than enough clearance for most places.

 

wondering if anyone else has done under the gas tank .....this is exactly what i wanta do

 

i ran mine unther the gas tank cause i wanted it to be as straight and free flowing as possible. it clears good enough for me. if i get it up on the lift ill take a pic and post it here.
