Default Video of D15b vtec engine making rattling noise

I swapped this engine in and now its making this weird noise. I haven't driven it yet. I was thinking maybe it needs a valve adjustment...? The timing belt seems kind of loose also so maybe its stretched over time. I dunno if I can't figure this out or take it to the shop to fix it I'm just gonna give up on it. Its really frustrating. If theres anyone in so cal who can help me out at my house I can pay 3 or $400 to fix whatever it is. If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSv0rT4Zcv0

Yeah I was thinking that too and also the timing belt. I can practically push and slide it off the cam gear so its probably pretty worn. I just wish I knew what to do and how to fix it. I drove it a few feet out of the garage and it drove like crap.

It's hard to say from the sounds of it, but I'll have to say it's either the timing is a bit off or that the valve lash is excessive. When I first read the topic title I was wondering if the distributor gear may have been going bad, but this rattle is a pretty bad one and sounds more valve related. Honestly, if I were you, I'd start off by making sure the timing is correct. From what I could hear, it sounds as if the car may have a slight miss to it. If that all checks out good, check the valve lash and tighten to the correct specifications. The distributor gear is a much different rattle round, and sounds more like something's clunking around near the distributor.

Yeah Im pretty sure its the valves and/or timing belt. I just saw a video of a 240sx nissan that had valve problems that sounded similar but a lot worse than mine. Atleast my car doesn't crap out while its idling. I'm gonna really try to just take it in to the shop cause I've never had this happen before. I don't want to make it worse, whatever it is.
