JDM Speed limiter question.
I have a 1998 JDM Type R which is bone stock and as a result has the speed limiter intact. It kicks in at an indicated 200 kmph (124 mph) - although the speedometer only has markings up to 190 kmph. (is it possible to get a 240 kmph speedo and can adjusted to the current mileage ?)
I would like to know what are my options for removing this limiter. I noticed that HondaData sells a stage 1 ecu but there are not many details about it. Is this a straight swap deal or would i have to send my ecu somewhere to get the restriction removed. Are there any other options ?
I don't know much about this so any assistance would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Blitz plus many other companies make a speed de-limiter which attaches between the speed sensor wire and the ecu, theyre relatively simple to fit and cost arrond $100

I have a JDM integra Si and bought an R Spec vtec controller off ebay for $130 which removed the limiter.

in other for you to install hondata you have to be OBD1 or run a jumper ,
and if thats the case just to remove the speed limiter just get an obd1 ecu and re-program it ..

I thought that JDM ITR´s had the same speedo as the euro spec? 270kmh
