Is there anything sitting on the passenger seat when it comes on? Laptop? Briefcase? Skull bong? Passenger?

wtf?

You could try replacing the SRS computer or take it by honda and see what they say the problem is.

I do that for most of my stuff, then try to fix it on my own

Your backpack is probably making the seat sensor think there may be small child sitting on the seat. So the control unit turns on the side airbag light to tell you it has disabled the side airbag just to be safe.

Try putting your backpack on the back seat or the floor.

They dont have a weight sensor. There are sensors in the seatback that help determine the passengers height and possition. It's called the OPDS system. (Occupant possition detection system)
