Default 5th. Gen 'Lude Tire Questions

Since the stock RE-92s are spinning and slipping in the wet, I am looking into replacing them. However, the stock size (205/50/16) seems to have limited selections for all-season tires (I don't have the budget for 2 sets of tires). My questions:

1. Can I use 205/55/16? Since that size has a lot more choices than the stock size.

2. What effects would I see on my odometer and speedometer if I go with the higher profile tires?

3. What will the 55-series tires affect the 'Lude's handling?

Your help is appreciated.

Yea you can use a non-stock tire size if it fits on the tire/car w/o any issues.

Larger than stock tire would mean you are travelling faster than what your speedometer/odometer is reporting. It isn't a huge difference thou, very minute.

I would guess that ride quality should be generally better since there's more sidewall, but handling might be slightly reduced w/ more sidewall to flex.

Your acceleration will be slightly diminished due to the effective reduction in final drive ratio - conversely, your fuel economy ought to rise by the same small percentage...

Thanks guys. I'll see what kind of tires I'd buy in the larger size. I mean, the stock size is full of performance tires with very limited selection of all-season ones. I'd like to have a set of S-03 PP with another set of winter tires, but $$$ doesn't allow for that.

Thanks for the answers!
