Default Skunk2 Lowering Springs Chart

I don't understand why it has two spring rates each for the front and the rear. It says Front Rate Tender/Main and Rear Rate Tender/Main. What's the difference of the tender and main spring rate? Here's the chart in case you're wondering what I'm talking about....

A dual-spring setup is similar to using a single progressive spring. The tender spring and the main spring compress together to give a softer initial rate until the tender binds, at which point the main spring takes over completely.

Hmm....I see. So how would you calculate the spring rate as a whole?

Whenever I attempt to, smoke starts pouring from my ears.

I have no idea.
