Pissed off equals an even worse time
I am having a bad day, everything was good until I got home. My dad pulls in all pissed off because hes having a bad day (I guess expletive him though) I have to move my car, so I pull forward and go to back up and let the clutch out to fast. It wasnt dumped but it was obviously to fast. It jumped out of gear and started rolling foward, I thought that I didnt get it in all the way (sometimes happens only had car for 1500 miles or so) went to put it back in and it wasnt going out of where it was.
I need some advice on these trannys, 98 civic sedan lx. I replaced the mainshaft bearing when I got the car (got it cheap needed water pump and clutch, it was owned by a woman, she took really good care of the car and was the original owner.
Is there common point that fails? The car doesnt go in nuetral, I had to drag it to the garage up hill with the clutch in, it grinds when pushing it around in nuetral but is VERY hard to move. I am going to pull the trans but It probbaly wont be good, any good places online to get a reman in case I have bad luck finding one for an afforable price locally.
Cliff notes, let off clutch to fast in reverse, trans is expletiveed. Help me out PLEASE>

Deffiantly the trans. Any one lose reverse and it took out everything? I am in a bad mood from all of this. My truck is the reason I bought the car so I could focus work on the truck but I have been doing so much more work on the car. Its my fault, guess I now have to deal with it.
Any guys in ohio have a trans for sale.
Do I have to get one from an lx or would a 5spd from any civic ex or dx work. I remember seeing the gear ratios, I want the one that is best on gas and the closer ratio, ( i think)

hell any d-series would be good on gas lol. but yes you can use any trans even the 96-00 trans. anything d-series 92-00 will work. and the tallest geared tranny i believe would be VX... well... atleast for the 92-95 it is the tallest...
before you replace a bunch of stuff:
Hows the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder?
Is the master or the slave leaking?
Turn the car off, does the car go into gear?

Check those things first.
If none of those are the problem check the fork that goes to the throwout bearing.
I had a problem with mine when I did my clutch install. I didn't put the little springlike clamp that's on the fork onto the ball correctly & as a result it popped off a mile away from where I did the install. Wouldn't go into gear at all.

Car moves around the gears (wont move the car some gears stick some go in), In neutral the car will stall when letting go of the clutch, clutch engages and disengages fine, all the parts are new, I drove the car for 1500 miles (I bought the car cheap, it needed a throwout bearing and a water pump, the old one only had 30k on it and I have the recepit, I also replaced the main shaft bearing while the trans was out. New flywheel and clutch kit installed) I dont think it was something I did wrong. Trans is coming out tomarrow night, one local at a yard has 80k on the trans for 350$.
