My old ratty seat solution...what do you guys think?
Ok so I bought another CRX HF...and of course the seats are all Fed up as usual for a CRX.
Making matters worse is that they're the ugly blue!

I wanted to (along with everyone else) get a set of nicer seats as an upgrade that I wouldn't have to stress about getting bolted in all 4 bolts (not 3 like I've read on some threads).
But since my CRX HF is an 1988 model I knew my selection of used CRX seats that would be in good condition and just bolt right in would be narrow to none.
At first I tried some spare 350Z seats I have lying around. I think they look real good and are definately comfortable for sure but once I sat in there they were sitting too tall and made me feel like I was driving a school bus.

So I contintued to look and look. I almost felt doing a seat pan swap would be my only choice but then out of curiosity I figured I'd look into getting my stock seats reupholstered and tadahhhhhhh...here they are now!
How they look from the outside...nice and black/gray not blue!

Some close up pics...what appears to be white is really just the material nap (or fuzz), if it's in one direction it looks white with the camera flash but it's all black. Also has some fuzz on it that I'll get off with a lint roller once I clean it all up.
I like how they kept the stock lines in the inserts just like the OEM seats.

They look better than before thats for sure, but why are you letting your dirty tire touch your new seats!?!
How much did that cost BTW? Did they replace the torn up pieces of foam?

LOL...I know I need to get my VX wheels out of there but I wanted to see them bolted in right away.
It's all clean dirt anyway so if it does get on there I'll sweep it off, so no big deal.
Yeah the fixed whatever foam issues the seats had.
I got some other seats fixed up by them so they gave me a deal for all 4 seats.
The pictures don't do them justice because of the way the flash makes them look white/scuffed/etx but they're all black and dark grey insert...I am glad that blue is gone from the seats.
I have a black carpet out of a 1991 CRX Si that I'll slap in once the weather gets better. I'm slowly converting to a full black interior.

Sorry Socalrex88...I reupholstered the stock 88 seats so I don't have any spare HF seats. Are you looking for stock HF seat pans or DX or Si? I'll keep an eye out for ya!

Yeah I hear you...that's what we're dealt with especially when 88 CRX are pretty much stand alone (meaning no other year CRX seats will bolt right in) and HF's are different than the rest (DX or Si) so unless you find 1988 CRX HF seats in good condition you're left with seat pan swaps or getting them reupholstered which is why I went this route.
I'll keep an eye out for some CRX HF seats or seat pans for you.

No way the 350z seats are going into my Datsun 510. I like them on my 350Z (my DD) so I got a spare set to slap into my 510 to keep it all Nissan.
They're comfy but way too big for my CRX.

Yeah but then I'd be stuck trying to get them mounted as well...there's no direct bolt on and I don't want to run around with just 3 or maybe 2 bolts in like some are doing it....for safety and for the light weight seats the stock ones are. Plus even the cheap seats from your local Kragens/Checkers/Chuck's/Autozone/PepBoys are like $180 each...and they are crap. For me it wasn't much of a choice and decision when it boiled down to it...but I hear ya.
I've got the exact same car as you. Year, model, color, everything. I kinda like the interior colors but thought that the seats were too bright to mach it.
I've got some faded grey seat covers on them for now but have been planning to replace them altogether. After seeing this post I suppose I'll keep them and just get them reapholstered. I'm going to replace the carpeting at the same time and maybe repaint the interior trim, though I don't really mind the colors of the plastic- just the blue seats and carpet are pretty tacky.
I suppose when I decide on a color scheme for the car I'll get it all worked out. Thanks for the post and solving my problem of what to do about the seats

Hey RiskEverything, I've been following your thread too. Man you scored a deal for your HF for just $500!!! I'm jealous.
I don't like the blue interior so I'm also planning on slowly swapping it to black. I bought a black carpet from another CRX so that will be swapped out soon. For the interior plastics I'm going to try to either find someone parting out a black CRX first if not I'm going to give that Krylon plastic paint a try.
Keep posting pics of your ride will ya!
