ok, so i recently bought my first civc a couple months back, and now im hooked. but i want to know where to go from stock, what to buy, what to do and what not. my budget is a little tight so i would be doing things in moderations. im looking at things like exhaust, and power.
and before you say anything im working on a new paint job allready, i know how bad it looks

Just wondering how much would a DOHC motor cost? my friend was wondering if i wanted to buy his 2000si engine for like 1000, plus another 1000 in labor and the parts needed, is that a good deal?
cruise the the different forums...
app/cos, the suspension forum, and the various engine forums.(fi, all motor, hybrid...) just read on the things that catch your eye and go from there.... there are enough pics and info to keep you entertained for a while.....

the si motor is a B16A3, decent start. is the motor complete with everything needed for the swap (block, head, ecu, tranny, sensors, linkage, mounts?) if so, 1k is not a bad price at all assuming the engine and tranny are in good shape.

I was gonna say get a decent suspension set up first, but when I saw your pic, I'm gonna have to say a paint job.
Maybe even painting the car flat black or whatever to get it all one color.
After that, a nice suspension setup would be a step forward.

A 2000 Si motor would be the B16A2. But to the OP, get the swap and get it done right. The B16 is a good starting point, and that offer is a great price

No it isn't. The '99-'00 Civic Si engine is the B16A2. The B16A3 came in the '94-'97 del Sol VTEC.

what kinda stuff doesnt come with the engine? sounds like a decent plan. i'd say go for it.
but you can always plan what you want to do and go from there

You could sand it and spray it flat black for cheap. If you have the extra money, you should get it painted with the engne out. That way you can get the engine bay lookin nice too.
i hope you picked up a couple velvet elvis paintings from the swap meet you bought that thing at....
and if you're looking for power than buying an exhaust/intake whatever would be a waste, as they most likely wouldn't be suitable for your new motor.
so stick with suspension/braking mods until you can afford a swap.
and seriously rattle can some black paint over your black light inspired car.

well the majority of my mods are not going to be done until after the swap due to the price of the swap. and i was not looking to upgrade the exhaust solely for power but looks and sound
