hey guys so i've got an EM1 with the stock clutch still in it. its got 119,xxx miles on it and im sure the clutch needs to be changed but something weird started happening a few days ago. when i put the clutch all the way to the floor when i shift and bring it back up it feels like its sticking at the bottom. it also squeaks ALOT when i put it to the floor or take my foot off and it squeaks if i pump it. is this just cause the clutch is old? or is there something more going on?? any help would be great guys!!

i was outside of my car and it started squeeking and then when i pushed in the clutch and it went away. whats goin on with the clutch? last days coming up?

same thing with my clutch it was squeaking, and knew it needed a new clutch pedal, as for your clutch wanting to stick to the floor, check if you have any fluids in your clutch master reservoir. it might need to bleed it.

 

i've never done that before. what do i need to do and can you post a pic of what the clutch master reservoir

 

anyone else have suggestions?

 

Its the white containter, it should have a "min" and a "max" make sure your fluid level is up to max, if not you will have to bleed it and add in brake fluid.

If you need to know how to bleed it, follow the clutch line to the front of the tranny and you will find the hydraulic that operates the clutch. On the hydaulic there is a 8mm bleeder valve with a nipple. do it like you do brakes. Pump the clutch, then undo the bleeder valve some, until you hear/feel/see bubbles or fluid then close it, and repeat.

 

i've never done a break bleed before either so 3 things.. do i pump before i undo the bleeder valve? and what kind of fluid will i need to put in. also where will i put it in once its bled?

 

have some one sit in your car and pump the clutch pedal three times then hold it to the floor. while they hold it to the floor you take a 10mm wrench and open the close the valve on the slave cylinder. do this a few times to get any air out. make sure you are keeping an eye on the level of fluid in the clutch master cylinder. and you the fluid you use is just regular brake fluid

 

the squeaking noise is pretty common since i hvae it as well.. (hopefully nothings wrong) i asked a similiar questions with friends, its just the hydraulics of the clutch, after awhile. after driving it for a bit dont u notice its gone? well yeah sticking to the floor is another thing..

You say you have no pedal feel? That means that your master cylinder is probably leaking. Follow the clutch pedal up to where it bolts up look if you see any fluid or if the carpets wet. The squeak is from the slave cylinder binding against the clutch fork. You have to lube up the master and fork and it will stop squeaking.
