Default Idiot ran a red light and hit my EP3!!! (pics inside)

So far the estimates are around 1200 bucks.. Anyone know of anything I should watch out for? Looks like the metal bracket support piece directly behind the bumper got hit up a bit...

Some of the shops are telling me they will have to straighten the unibody out because it looks like it might have been all pushed to the left.

What effects will this have performance-wise on my car long term?

Cruising this morning on a one way street and some idiot in a minivan ran a red light and I couldn't stop in time and semi t-boned her rear quarter panel. Then she tried to blame it on me!!!!

I'm sure you all know how pissed I am! What should I do?

Thank God you weren't hurt seriously!
(you have a police report i hope, that shows her at fault, right?)

Go through her insurance! NOT YOURS!

straightening the frame looks necessary... ouch!
PLUS ALIGNMENT!

i'd make sure you get an estimate, then get the work COMPLETED!
...before settling on any amount-

and it could get expensive... only the experts can tell you for sure-
shop estimates VARY GREATLY! and some undercut- then add to the price later! (it happened to me!)

so go to the BEST SHOP you've heard of (or ask around!)
...since you want it done right, and it's going on HER insurance!
Good Luck, and God Bless!

Ouch, but its not too bad.

Long term performance issues?
from a little bit more than a fender bender?

At least she didnt t-bone you and total it or something.
Such as before make sure you come prepared to own her
either through insurance or court. Good luck man.

Yeah. I have got two very reputable shops to choose from. One is backed up 2 weeks and the other I can get in right away. Still trying to decide. There might be some unibody straightening needed but I have been talking to them and doesn't look like it would affect long term performance characteristics.

Her insurance is paying for it all and getting me a rental car. I am getting it replaced with all HONDA OE parts. Shop work has lifetime guarantee and all that jazz. I am going to go see a chiropractor tomorrow just in case there is any aftermath injuries (we were going about 20 MPH and she was going about 25 - 30).

The police wouldn't come to file a report since there were no injuries and it wasn't blocking traffic. I went to the police station later on and tried to file a report but all they gave me was the DMV sheet to fill out.

Oregon law states that I can choose which shop I take it too so I am taking it to the best I have heard about.

My body shop is going to do the work and any extra charges that come up (hidden amounts or damage) are going to be fully covered by the insurance company. I work at the local NAPA at the body shop is behind me on this one. So there is nothing I am going to end up paying for.

It really sucks to see my baby this way. I know it will never be the same and the retail value will probably somewhat decrease from it. But I plan on keeping it for a long time so that shouldn't matter. It will be to me 16 years from now what a CLEAN EF is to people now!

Thanks guys!

Dosen't look bad at all.

Your body shop can most likely straigten out the support. Else your gonna end up needing #12 (60400-S5T-G01ZZ - BULKHEAD, FR.) about $300 and a new headlight bracket.

Oh, the rebar might be bent too.

I vote to replace with JDM bumper!

Yeah I am making them replace any bumper supports, etc that were damaged. Even if still "good". I don't care. My car was perfect before. I want it perfect now.

I thought about a new front end but I wanna keep it looking relatively stock so I think that is out of the question. It will be nice to get to start clean with no rock chips though.

Well another thing that sucks is that I won't be getting any diminished value settlement out of the car either. That really ticks me off cause my car will be worth less money now although I am having it done at a VERY reputable shop.

If that is your concern, take lots of pictures, keep all paperwork from the shop and be open about the accident when you try selling it. Don't be one of those "car was in an accident, but work was so quality, you can't even see where" sellers.

You aren't used to that living in GB? Worst rice ever in this town. The Hondas here are downright embarassing.
