A few years ago I removed most of the sound deadening tar from my '98 LS. I was crazy into auto-x (still am somewhat) and it didn't make a big difference IMO... car was pretty loud to begin with. These days though it would be nice to quiet it down a bit on the freeway, it's annoyingly loud esp. when I'm trying to talk to passengers.
I know there is stuff like Dynamat and Peel-n-Seal but I'm looking for something that is removable. I auto-x about 10x/yr and I want something I can just take out when I pull the rear seats/spare/etc. out before a race. Is there anything that makes a decent difference that doesn't require application/installation? Where should I put it? I assume the places where I took the original stuff out - rear seat and trunk area.

Dynamat extreme would be a good choice, thinner than stock but probably works better. There is no sound deadening material I know of that comes off easily.
