Rebuild d15b2 or swap for d16a6
should i rebuild my d15b2 or do a d16a6 swap cuz i can get one pretty cheap and is it hard or pretty easy? can i use the d15 transmission or not? cuz if i rebuild my d15b2 ima do a dpfi to mpfi swap anyway!
Do the swap, it will be the same amount of work you would have removing the B2 for rebuilding and putting it back in. Of course you could use the same transmission, its just not recommended for acceleration purposes.

GL finding one. well atleast in the southeast they are hard to come by. im going to have to end up gettin my Si trans rebuilt. anyway the A6 swap was the first thing i did in my 91 Hatch and it took me and two friends the weekend to get it all in. i love it! great gas mileage and with a lightweight flywheel and new clutch i pull on my buddys LS DC2!!! woot woot! but IMO do the A6 swap it will be way worth it. worse case senario us the D15 trans until u find a good A6! GL!

If you plan on doing the DPFI to MPFI swap anyway, you're pretty much 80% of the way there. How many miles are on your B2? If you decide to stick with the B2 motor, do the MPFI conversion, toss in the A6 cam w/ Y7/8 cam gear, I/H/E and you'll be just as, if not faster, than a stock Si.
Heres my two cents on the whole tranny thing. I ran both trannys with my dx motor , the problem with the si was my top speed sucked (120ish) cuz the dx doesn't rev high enough to be mated with the si final drive. I do a lot of high speed freeway runs tho. My max was about 135 it made a difference to me. if you drag, the si wud be better

You will definatly notice a big difference in just the trans alone, especially if you install a lightweight flywheel.
IMO you should try and find a trans also and swap both engine and trans, you will be happy you did.
I found an a6 with trans for $200. They'e out there, you just gotta find em'.

Just do the swap. Let's face it. You could EASILY end up spending MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more on parts and machine work for rebuilding than you could pick up a used A6 for. Not to mention all the downtime you would have to deal with while doing a rebuild. And all for what? Alot less HP and torque than you could get by just simply swapping in that A6, that's what. I should also mention that it might be worthwhile to look into other engines as well. If you don't want to spend the money on a B-series swap, you could always go for a D16Z6 swap. This will gie you even more HP.
