Default b16 red line 7500

so i swapped a b16 in to my car. went to the local shop to get my p28 tuned and he put a b18 base map on it. car didnt go on the dyno or anything just put a chip with the base map of a 2000 si.. now my car hits vtec at 5g and red lines at 7500.. this sound normal.

HELLL NO. take that **** back and get the GSR or B16 basemap. they jipped you and gave you the b18b basemap. b16 should redline at 8200 stock and vtec should kick at 5800 from the factory. you getting robbed of your performance.

Hold on a sec, you said he put a b18 base map on it, then said just put a chip with the base of a 2000si (b16a2)? Which one? I think the redline sounds a bit low (shouldn't it be like 8200?), probably a problem in the chip program.

neither of you make sense.

first the OP says he put a B18 basemap onto the chip, and then says its a 2000 si basemap which has a B16a, not a b18.

then 93egsleeper says he got a b18b basemap which is NON VTEC, but the OP clearly states he has vtec engaging.

OP what did you ask for??? if you are running a p28 you are obviously obd1, and the best basemap for an obd1 b16a would be the stock 94-95 del sol vtec since thats what it runs (obd1 b16a).

by the way, a basemap is meant to get you to a tuner, nothing more.

if he had a b18c basemap the redline would be right... so i figured it has to be a b18b basemap... but vtec is engaging. i just dunno how you can have vtec and redline at 7500 with a b18 basemap. makes zero sense.

your post still makes zero sense. GSR redline isnt 7500rpm. and an LS redline isnt 7500rpm. the automatic b16a redline is 7500ish if i recall correctly.

theres really no telling what he has, theres alot of differant rom dumps out there, and half of them are incorrectly filed and or get posted as stock and they arent, etc.

point is, he needs the 94-95 del sol vtec basemap to get CLOSE to stock performance.

i see what your saying... were both confused as to what he could have and took different paths of thought. id just take it back and tell them to put the right **** in it for free.

i doubt anyone will make that trade, lol. but i would honestly just ask him if he can do it again. it takes less than 5 minutes to burn a basemap, and another 5 mins max to install the chip in the car. thats if he isnt doing it inside the car with a laptop.

i got the ecu with the swap but it had a some stuff that i took off so it wasnt running smooth so i calle dhim up and he siad he charge liek 10 bucks to re flash the chip in the p28 for a stock b16 base map. the car runs great except for the vtec hitting at 5g and red line at 7500 .
