removing a ebay chip from my p30
i bought a ebay chip for my ecu a few months ago cause i was curious if it worked or not, and after a few weeks of having it, i noticed my car ran bad, shot out too much smoke under heavy acceleration, like if it was using up too much gas, plus my gas milage is pretty bad... its not too bad, but its noticable.
anyway, my brother actualy chiped it for me, but i believe he used a socketing set (?). i dont know how many ways there is to chip it, but would it be hard, or harmful to the ecu if you un chip it?
the smoke is starting to bother me, because its getting worse, and i'd like to get my good ole' 30mpg's back.
motor is a 94 gsr in a 93 eh2... if it matters.

i believe you have to unsolder the chip from the ecu. if you have no soldering skills, do not do it yourself!! jus have your brother unchip it for you. gl
It should be socketed, theres 2 types: one with a lever that you lift up on the side of the socket and the chip pretty much falls out, the other prettty much a plug and play, just pull the chip out. If you take it out, you must cut jumper "J1" look for the print "j1" on the chip board it should be above the chip, and have a piece of wire soldered in it, just cut it. That will allow the ecu to run normal.
