Best suspension setup for street/strip.
Im looking to buy new suspension.. My current setup just isnt cutting it anymore with the power I am making.
I want to have something super stiff at the track, but I dont want to sacrafice ride on the street.. (it is not a strictly track car yet)
I want to be able to slam it every now and again, and I also want to be able to fit my slicks nicely (24.5x8x13)
I dont mind alittle loss of comfort for something that will perform
I currently have a 500whp EG with Tein S-techs and Tokico Blues...

The best option is probably to buy a complete set of street-oriented coilovers and an additional "drag" pair for the rear end to swap on when you go to the track - something like the PIC Performance D1A package.
Anything else will sacrifice either performance at the track or ride quality on the street.

All the setups mentioned in this thread so far other than your previous setup are FULL COILOVERS....
It is virtually impossible for you to get something that is, "I want to have something super stiff at the track, but I dont want to sacrifice ride on the street.. "
your should browse this Suspension forum a bit more and read up on some suspension stuff. you'll find alot of usefull information and you'll determine a good setup for yourself when your ready to purchase.
If all else fails, take TARGA250R's advice, he knows what hes talking about.

One of the options would be picking up a sleeve-type coilover (ie, Ground Control) with street oriented rates and picking up an extra set of stiffer springs for the rear. Just swap out the rear springs before you hit the strip.
Check out the Road Racing forum FS/WTB thread for springs.
Cost wise, you can pick up GC coilovers for under 400 shipped and used springs (for the rear) shouldn't be over 100.
Good luck

well, how agressive does a strip setup in the rear have to be before its a pain in the *** and rough on the street?
so ideally I could have everything I needed for street/strip for roughly 500$
and thats including an extra set for the rear to use at the track...
or is that just for the GC coilovers?
I had thought about goin with a GC/Koni Yellow setup also..

The rear springs has most to do with ride quality in our cars.
In other words, softer rear spring=smoother and softer ride quality.
Although 'stiffness' varies from one person to another,
for a 92-95 hatch, anything over 300(lbs per inch) is going to be on the rough side for daily IMO.
You'll want higher rates in the rear (than front) for the strip to reduce squat.
I've seen people use 550-700 (lbs per inch) for the strip.

Yes, that's for everything (including the extra set).
Unless you need new shocks...

a full coilover with a second set of spring rates should do the job...

A full coilover is really the only option if your looking to turn this into a track car only in the future. Something with a good external resivour like KW"s or Teins. If your looking for something to give you a decent ride while allowing for a little adjustabilty at decent price, koni yellows, tokico illuminas, or kyb agxs all allow for a little amount of adjustability. Konis yellows are nice becasuse they can be revalved but you do pay the price for that option, illuminas while not being able to be revavled offer 5 levels of adjusability, ranging 1-5 5 being the "stiffest." As far as coilovers go a lot of people seem to lean twoards the Ground control's. Some thread hopping and pming in the suspension forum should help you with your decsion.
