Default max size you can bore the engine

got some bad news today my b18c6 engine is fried!
went in for the head gasket to be done, but on further inspection it seems ive scored my sleeves, ouch, so now the job has turned into a big JOB.

the engine was done at laskey racing its a blueprinted 1.8ltr bored to a 2 ltr.
running benson 84mm sleeves.

the scoring is quite deep on one of the cylinders,

can this be bored anymore?

ps the engine has only lasted 15000miles,

help please guys

you also need to figure out what caused the cylinders to score. must have ran lean, and the pistons expanded to much

If this was " pin the tail on the donkey" , You would be the winner. . . .

84.5 should be fine (will also depend on how deep scoring is) , but as was said earlier, consulting the machine shop that originally did it would be the best bet

reason being i think its so bad is that i didnt spot the head gasket leak sooner, and so the scoring is worse.

id say theres a score about 0.5mm deepest on the worst one.

resleeve to 85mm?

SAME SLEEVES, JUST RE HONE/BORE TO NEW SIZE.
you do not need to replace them

You dont have to resleeve, it just needs a bore & hone, and 86mm is the generally accepted "largest" you can go on a B. Notice i said generally accepted..

sounds like it's the tuner's fault...LASKEY RACING puts out some
really good work.

like 4g hatch said.if the motor ran lean and got those pistons really
hot and exspanded them ,then it will do the same thing to the 85mm
or what ever size you choose to put in.

Who tuned it bud? Those sleeves should be fine up to 86mm but I think your best bet by far would be 85mm. Who built the engine?

boosted!

mase tuned it! he came over to the UK to tune a few cars.

he did the set up on the street as the dyno bust. the car never ran lean, the car was set up to run fairly rich just incase, the plugs are spot on.

im thinking of breaking the car now or selling it with this engine, for some one to adopt as there project.

i now dont have the time nor cash to rebuild her gutted

For one this is the all motor section. Two turbo cars require to much babying and making **** dead on becomes a hassle. On your next build get a wide band so when your joy ridding you'll know the cars is running lean.
