Bore out a H23 TB?
Is it worth doing? What is involed in it? How much would it cost?
I need a new TB. I have one laying around but its a h23TB. Pretty sure its not the right size. Could it even be bored out to 62 mm?
Thanks

You can bore the H23 TB out to about 64mm. Yes you can do 62mm (I bored my old one out that far) and I think RC engineering and Maxbore offer a service and probably a couple more. But for a little more you can get a new 68 or 70mm TB http://www.midwestmotorsportsinc.com

Good info.
I seen a bunch guys in that thread really happy about getting an oversized TB. Like 68mm. The IM's are only 60mm mabey 62mm.
Whats to benefit from slapping a 68mm tb onto a 62mm IM?

Maxbore charges and you have to pay for shipping on the IM too. It's cheaper to get a black permanent marker, a sharp nail or scribe and a $3 rat-tail file and do it yourself. Use the marker to mark up the IM's mating surface. Install the TB onto the IM without the gasket. Open the TB and use the scribe to score a visible line in the marker, that shows you where the TB port lines up. Uninstall the TB and use the file to remove material up to the scored line in the IM.
Might take an hour or less and it's cheaper than paying some one else to do it for you.

The most noticable thing to me about a lrger throttle plate is response. The bigger your TB, the more air you will let in faster, so just barely opening a 70mm will be like opening a 60mm a bit more. I hope that makes sense...like my 70mm makes the gas pedal a lot more sensitive because of the size.
Then of course you will have capability to flow more air at high rpms if you need it.

Acura throttle bodies. $135 Pretty cheap. No core required.
Not much to do with honda but they've got a couple items.

Okay guys thanks for all the imput. Odds are Im just going to have it sent to Maxbore, sounds easiest to me. If it Effes up well its on him.
All though I do like the idea off doing it myself, Ill have to pass up on the TB part. Although I am probally gonna give the IM a nice little port job with my Angle Grinder, the thought of that makes me happy. Its my favorite tool...

It will cause a loss at low rpms
