sounds like you are seriously whipped my friend....

FWIW, the R is not a very practical car for a family.
The MDX was rated higher than the X5 3.0 and the ML320 by Car and Driver magazine. It drives beautifully for a large vehicle and can hold about 10 baby strollers in the back.
I say do it (like you have a choice anyways)

Obviously, you have a need for a more practical vehicle for your family needs.
However, instead of spending upwards of $35K plus tax to buy a new MDX, perhaps you could get by buying a less expensive car - for example, a new Civic EX Sedan with an automatic transmission for around $18K plus tax, for your wife to drive your baby around. You could save enough money that way to keep the R!

No way an R will work for a family if it is your only car... family always comes first. I agree with keping the R and getting something else forthe family that is a few steps down from the MDX...

i make the MDX and Pilot, .i am going to buy a demo MDX when my g/f is done school..i don't think i could ever trade my R away...but the mdx is the only SUV I would buy...plus i will save about 10g's..We are the best plant for quality in north america...
actually, we have 3 cars, a 97 montero sport, a98 itr, and a 01 accord ex. we used to have just 2 cars the montero and the itr and you probable figure out which one she drives. but thenwe moved from San JOSE TO Sacramento and i kept my job in San Jose for a while and didn't want to put all that mileage on the itr so we got an accord. now i have a job here in Sacramento (Go Kings!) and occasionally drive back to San Jose. My wife now loves the Accord and this is herdaily driver, we just use the Montero alternaltely. She would like me to sell the Itr and the Montero and get the MDX so we can make occasional trips to Tahoe (MDX being all wheel drive, montero is only 2wd) and probably better off with insurance with just 2 cars. I just love how my itr handles, but it's not practical right now, I even have dreams of running it in Sears point one day with my friend, and now that they stopped production of the Integra, the more reason I have to hang on to it. She's even agreeing to me replacing it with maybe a bmw325 but i know that they are high maintenance cars. i'm a pretty down to earth guy who just loves cars. I f you were me, would you do it?

It sounds like the only thing you're concerned about right now is that you're not comfortable taking the Montero to Tahoe because it's FWD. For a few hundred bucks, you can get a set of winter tires and an extra set of steel wheels that will make the Montero do great in snow for those occasional trips to Tahoe.
That's what I would do.
drop the montero and get something that will do th 4wd thing you need. 3 cars w/ 2 drivers isn't all that bad on insurance. Just be sure to declare the R for leisure and under limited mileage coverage. Or you can just sell it to me
Dump the Accord, pick up the MDX and keep the R...
The MDX is a fine daily driver..
My wife and I have two kids as well, and the R is her daily driver.. Works fine for us..

my dad told me...when he was ready to buy his very first car in the 70's, he had the opportunity to buy a used but cherry '57 thunderbird off the dealer lot for almost nothing. BUT, the guy he went with to look at the car that day(who was like a mentor to him) said "son, you're starting a family soon...its a good idea to get a larger more practical car". my pop went home that night with a gas guzzling chevy that didn't last too long
fast forward to the present...he has a son whos a car-nut who fantasizes about classics, exotics, anything fast...etc. do you know how sick i felt knowing that i could have inherited a car from MY dad which is now worth thousands, which is now considered a timeless classic???
i'm not saying its guaranteed that the r will be of the same stature, but i'm willing to bet my money it will...one day you might have to tell your son(or daughter
) that you got something else more "practical" to replace what you love so much now
...make the best decisions for you...but with no regrets

Keep the teg. Sell the accord and get an old CRV. Build B20vtec motor of CRV and have grocery getting stop light stealth bomber. That's just what I would do.
I not even gonna read the posts and replies before I respond to this, My answer to the topic is ARE YOU F$#CKING CRAZY, keep the R
my moms got an mdx, that thing is so sweet, but slow as all hell
but if you get the mdx, get the navi system, that thing is so fun to play with hehehe....
