EG hatch speaker placement
i have a 1992 civic hatch and it seems to have only come with 2 speakers 6.5 in the door.iguess i have to do some customizing to get another2. anyone have any ideas and sizes for fitting some speakers in a 1992 hatchback
If it is a SI hatch the rear speakers are located above rear seat arm rests, if the car did not come with rear speakers there is a "dummy" trim plate of the speaker locations, they can be pulled off and with a little work turned into grills, there are no speaker mounting brackets behind the panels so you will have to make them.
Or, you can hit up your local bone yards and find a 92-95 hatch with rear speakers.
Speaker wiring is already run, laying at bottom behind panel.
You can go to eBay for grills... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW
Or, get the whole system... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWDVW
Or, just the kit... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWD1V
Or, like I said make your own brackets using MDF and mod. the dummy trim into grills.
I have installed up to 6x9 speakers there and 6.5" and 8" subs and up to 8" mid bass drivers in the stock locations, using custom MDF mounting brackets.

I suggest you stick with mid-range/mid-bass drivers for the rear and a round speaker, the custom work will be a lot easier with a round 6.5" speaker and SQ, [staging and imaging] will be way better without tweeters behind you.
You do know you will have to pretty much gut the back of your car to install speakers back there, right?

If you happen to have a hatch cover, please....DO NOT cut out holes for the speakers. That is wasting a good piece of Genuine Honda part/accessory. LOL seriously though, doing so looks ghetto.
i dont have the cargo cover my car was missing it when i bought the car. but what looks very ghetto is no cargo cover i wish i could find one for sale.

Most of the time, the owner will be asking too much for it.
