Default To those who have a 791xv

I have just a basic install and was wondering. When you undo your battery and hook it back up isn't your alarm supposed to sound until you disarm it with the keypad?

or is mine programmed wrong? TIA

Mine doesn't do that. It'll make a little chirp noise but doesn't sound the alarm.

No, DEI's do not do that. Audiovox alarms do, among others.

no dei alarms are supposed to power back on in the last state they were in before losing power. i believe they used to call it rapid resume or something to that nature.

The alarm is still armed even if you lose battery power on your keypad. It just wont transmit a signal to your remote. The keypad will show that the car is unlocked when you put the new battery in.

I dont need a battery back up. I have a switch that kills power to my fuel pump that is hidden. So unless they are towing it I dont have a problem. Battery backs do fail sometimes. A feul pump kill switch doesnt

Is the alarm armed when you disconnect the batt.?
If so, as mentioned, it should trigger. 94

Fuel kills are very easy to get around. You need a main relay kill. Also a BUB keeps your siren going off after the thief unhooks your battery. That is the fist thing he is going to go for. If the siren is still drawing attention to him and he cannot turn it off he might just move on. The BUB also will also allow your alarm to alert you if you have a 2way pager and the thief somehow gets to your battery w/o triggering your alarm. An alarm without a BUB is almost useless this day in age.
