Default D16 Build

I am planning to do a little bit of stuff to my D16 for fun. Not looking for serious power so keep the flames away.

I am thinking of 2 plans right now...not sure which, so any advice/opinions would be appreciated. This project will be with a D16Y8

Option 1:
DIY ITBs
Crower Stage 1
Skunk2 Cam gear
DC 4-2-1 Header
2.5 exhaust (thinking about kteller piping, with es oval muffler)
OBD2 to OBD1 Conversion harness
P28 ecu tuned on crome

Options 2:
B series throttle body
"Whale *****" intake
DC 4-2-1 header
2.5 exhaust(thinkg about kteller piping, with es oval muffler)
Crower stage 2 cam (will i need to run the crower retainers and springs if were to keep it under 7200RPM?)
^^^If i have to run the retainers and springs, i might just go with a stage 1 cam instead
Skunk2 Cam hear
OBD2 to OBD1 conversion harness
P28 tuned on crome

What do you guys think? This will be my first build. TIY.

Have a nice day

For your first option, i don't think diy itb's is the way to go. I think you will see more benefits from the itb's if you had some head work done. You can expect more gains from an after market IM and even more if you choose to bore it out. Also, what injectors do you plan on using?

for your second option, if you plan on using the Crowers stage 2 cam you MUST upgrade your VT. Your stock D series VT will not be able to handle the aggressiveness of that particular cam.
Eventhough you don't plan on revving that high, it is better to be safe than sorry. And doing it right the first time wont hurt you or your pockets.

My opinion, if you were on a budget. Go w/ option 1, ditch the itb's and invest the moeny in an aftermarket IM. Stick with either stage 1 or stage 2 cams and use the "whale *****" Keep in mind, it will be smart to upgrade the VT. Keep the skunk2 cam gears, and invest in a better clutch to deliver power. As far as your ecu, you should be ok there. AGAIN, this is my opinion. Good luck with the build

Thanks for your response, helps a lot. Keep in mind, i AM on a budget.

So what i am thinking now is..

-"whale *****" intake (already have)
-dc header (already have)
-2.5" exhaust
-skunk2 IM
-skunk2 cam gear
-crower stage 1 cam
-p28 ecu tuned on crome
-stage 2 clutch (don't know what is good out there for a decent price)

Personally I would use something better than a DC header.

you can save a little more money by going w/ a blox IM. But if you search, you can probably find a used sk2 IM for a decent price. But a new blox IM is anywhere between 100-150 new. **This isn't a "blox vs. Sk2" thing**

I have a D-series SMSP 4-1 header I only had for maybe a year. If you have a good enough offer maybe it can be yours

Sell the DC and take the money that would go into the ITB's and get an SMSP. I'm willing to bet you see better gains from the header than you do the Crower 1 cam.

thanks for your guys help </TD></TR></TABLE> Instead of getting a B series TB an port matching it or buying the blox intake mani, waste your money in something else more usefull like port an polish your head and a valve job, that will run you about $500-600 and youll see way more power gains than the Bseries TB with the blox intake mani that probably will run you around $350 and wont see real gains...

$350?

a brand new blox mani is no more than $200 for sure. i can probably find one for aournd $150 and a b series tb is around $60 or so, depending which one i get.
