crower stage 2 cam
anyone have any good experience with these? i've heard there turbo cams r reallly rough and lumpy at idle. i'm looking into buy a sohc cam in the future, just wondering if these r worth getting, or if n e one has any better suggestions, for a daily driver.

Re: crower stage 2 cam (Civicse)
if you are not going to boost, then dont bother with turbo cams.
i am going to recommend crower stage 2's or zex stage 2 cam. i have seen some decent setups with the skunk 2 cam, but its well overpriced if you ask me( damn thing cost me 400 for the cam and 260 for the valvesprings)

Re: crower stage 2 cam (blackeg)
oh ya i no. skunk2 valve springs r like 280 or something where as crower r like 130 i think, and just as good from what i hear,
and i'm not asking bout the turbo's i'm asking about the stage 2's, i've hear some bad about the turbo';s and i was just wondering if that goes as well with the stage 2's. and stage 2's require upgraded springs and retainer's right?

springs are a must, retainers are good. i was planning on using stock retainers with that skunk2 cam and revving to 7600-7800 max.
builthatch has/had a higher compression y8 motor with crower st 2's and made in the 160 hp range( i forget the exact #)

Correct he IS running this now, but used to urn the crower stage 2
the 160WHP was hit with race gas and the stage 2 cam
stage 3 cam with PowerFC and SMSP header ran in the 160WHP range running pump gas

Re: crower stage 2 cam (civic-4-ges)
civic-4-ges is ******* rad, let's get that out in the open first and foremost.
anyway, i ran the crower 2- its awesome.
-It does need tuning.
-The idle is nice.
-You dont need springs or retainers with it (brian crower says this himself, email him @ brian@crower.com), since the lift is not insane and you will find you won't be making power at an rpm level much higher than stock...most likely power will top out @ approx. 7k on a well-tuned setup.
I did make almost 160 whp with that cam, but...that was with an extremely aggressive tune on c12.
On pump gas, it made most likely 140+ whp.

my main question to u, builthatch, is if this car is driven on the street daily?? not to threadjack, but, im interested in going Crower S2 on my y8, but, i drive my car daily and am planning to run it off a chipped p28...............let us kno if its good enough for daily driving.......

Re: (Superdragr45)
i ran stage 2 with virgin p30, then virgin p28 for some time before i ran the PFC. it drove/ idled perfectly, however, it needs a little higher idle that usual, and you will need some tuning, atleast a vafc/ afc to get it the fuel it needs.
i would refrain from just relying on the chipped ecu and use some sort of wideband or dyno to fine-tune it.
it's the perfect blend of street/strip.
the car has always been street driven on pump gas, just not daily....not because of the cam setup at any given time or its condition, but simply because i dont drive it that much.
