so i am driving on the highway and all the sudden my dashboard lights get real dim and the car starts to studder. i pull over and shut the car off now it wont start as if the battery died. is this a bad alternator. i checked all grounds. thanks for any help.

 

could be alternator, take it to autozone or one of those chain stores, to get it tested to make sure.

 

First things first, check all of the connections. Make sure your battery cables are on and tight. Make sure the starter signal wire is on good and hasn't broken, and make sure all of your alternator connections are good and tight.

If all of those are good, then go have the alternator tested. Never know when something little can come loose.

 

Yeah, take it to autozone and get it tested.
